Amazing Architecture, a digital magazine for architecture projects, Interior design, Skyscraper, Visualization, Sketches, Products, Future architecture and Student's projects all over the world. The firm Studio DB created an eye-catching kitchen nook in this Manhattan apartment. Sliding porthole doors serve a practical purpose, helping to minimize cooking smells, while the cabinet fronts and walls are painted a soothing pale green.

Doubling as both a calm retreat and a social space for entertaining, the residence was organized around a series of courtyards and outdoor spaces. A local favorite, Rose Park Roasters has three locations throughout Long Beach. If ordering from the Fourth Street outlet, take a seat and enjoy the floor-to-ceiling windows and house-made pastries. Staff serve incredible coffee beans sourced from around the globe and roast them at a site near the cafe.

The quintet worked with the site’s restrictions to carve out a two-storey home with generous, flowing interiors and outdoor areas in the form of courtyards and terraces. In fact, the outdoors plays a key role in the design’s arrangement, as the house wraps around a central courtyard on three sides. One thing Ireland knew for certain was that anything minimalistic had to be of the highest quality. “John Pawson once told me that, and I’ve always believed that it’s better to make things locally,” she says.

Cassina’s astounding three-level space —  designed by its art director Patricia Urquiola, the renowned Spanish architect and industrial designer — is the Italian furniture manufacturer’s largest store to date. It features modular works by the late Virgil Abloh as well as showcases its iMastri Collection, timeless pieces courtesy of the company’s tradition of collaborating with the foundations of significant architects and designers including Charlotte Perriand and Gaetano Pesce. “There used to be a line about Los Angeles that everyone was either a screenwriter or an actor,” says Scotti Sitz, owner of L.A.

Designer Casey Kenyon created a cozy nook in this Manhattan apartment by encasing the sleeping area in glass-paned doors, allowing light to reach further into the space without sacrificing privacy. Whether you have a fancy sectional or a slipcovered couch from Ikea, your sofa is a great way to incorporate a pop of color and texture into any room. Take it to the next level by matching your walls to the seating upholstery, as seen here in the Portugal home of jewelry designer Matthew Harris—especially if you want to make a big impact in a small space. Nothing communicates luxe living like a floor-to-ceiling bookshelf situation, especially when populated with coffee table tomes, back issues of collectible periodicals and magazines, and expertly styled with accessories.

An interesting feature is the mitered glass corners at the windows; an early idea Wright later used at Fallingwater. For the client's entertaining needs, the outdoor area includes a kitchen, two patios complete with fire pits, and an LED-lit pool1. The main garage also serves as an event space and can be completely opened on two sides for through views.

They were also after a modern interior aesthetic to fit their lifestyle. Their brief suggested balancing classic and modern, warm and minimalist, sharply poised and contemporary with homely and inviting. The new design blends all this with a sophisticated nod to midcentury styles and the aesthetics of modern Japanese houses.

The Theme Building

This 1965 Craig Ellwood house in the LA neighbourhood of Los Feliz has been given a new lease of life with an extensive restoration by Los Angeles architecture studio Woods + Dangaran. Called Moore House, the home unites the best of what California modernism has to offer; midcentury interiors, open-plan spaces, clean and sharp volumes that are softened by the use of wood, architectural gardens and glazed expanses that afford long views of the cityscape beyond. When the team was awarded the commission, the house was in a bad state, Brett Woods and Joseph Dangaran recall.

The visual effect of a mullion-free system was achieved through the development of a state-of-the-art sealant. The upper southwest and southeast wings of the home hold the master and mini-master suites, both of which are afforded 270-degree views of the city and ocean thanks to their slim profiles. In contrast, two smaller bedrooms are contained within the northern wing and embraced by the site’s adjacent hillside and rear garden, giving them an intimate feel akin to a treehouse. Designer Augusta Hoffman mixed eras and inspirations to create this entryway tableau, featuring a Spanish Mission-style sideboard, custom-designed mirror, and contemporary seating by Design Frères. Designer Garrett Hunter balanced out the eye-catching lines of this dining set with a an oversized lantern, hand-painted by local Los Angeles artist Jeffrey Cheung. Located in the Venice neighborhood, the Yin-Yang House was made as a net-zero energy, single-family home.

Racks of spice jars and sets of bowls filled with napkins—keeping things organized and at hand was key for designer Mark Grattan, whose Mexico City kitchen features beautiful tile and open shelving. Ireland and Newberg traveled together to Stockholm, France, and Italy, shopping the flea markets of Paris and the antiques fair in Parma for artworks, ceramics, and furniture. They also relied on their favorite local dealers such as Obsolete, where they found the French haberdashery table in the front hallway, and Galerie Half, where they bought a 1940s Swedish floor lamp and the 1968 brass FontanaArte ceiling pendant in the library. The Oak Pass Guest house was made with a small footprint to maximize surrounding views. Situated between oak trees, the project included the renovation of an existing barn into a large living space and concert venue area.

California offers the perfect climate and location for relaxed living and homes that blur the lines between indoors and out. The West Coast aesthetic is eclectic and often filled with bohemian touches, natural elements, exquisite vintage and antique furnishings, and plenty of bold art. From Santa Barbara to Silicon Valley, these residences from the AD archives showcase luxurious amenities, expansive views, and enviable landscaping, with styles that range from sleek and contemporary to stately and traditional. Take a peek at the homes of some of the Golden State’s most stylish residents—tech moguls and Hollywood power players alike. Manifold House is located in L.A.’s Silver Lake neighborhood near the top of a hill overlooking Silver Lake Reservoir. Created as a series of tightly stacked spaces unfolding in the landscape, the project features a conjoined residence with a letterpress workshop and industrial design studio.

Water is meant to flow from a pool in the courtyard through a tunnel to this inside moat, and out again to a fountain. This minimalist beach house in California is the brainchild of American architect Dan Brunn. Featuring a narrow frontage and attempting to address a healthy balance between natural light, privacy and outdoor space, the house design was conceived as a series of stacked cubes. The composition is quite complex but also feels at home within Los Angeles-based Brunn’s portfolio – the architect is well known for his clean, minimalist, sculptural work. A curious wooden structure has emerged in a back garden in the Los Angeles neighbourhood of Los Feliz.

Hollyhock House features an entertainment room immediately to the right of the entrance. This room contains possibly the first built-in entertainment center, complete with LP-sized cabinets along the floor. Other notable rooms include a child's play area as well as a modernist kitchen, which long housed the museum gift shop. Michael Maltzan’s Pittman Dowell Residence was created 15 miles north of L.A.

A historic midcentury Beverly Hills home by Alfred Wilkes has been restored by interior designer Sophie Goineau. Cove Way, a California residence set among leafy grounds, was originally built in 1957 to the era’s modernist architecture traditions. Goineau worked on refreshing existing features and opening up the space while maintaining the important overall aesthetic and philosophy of the structure. The house, which spans some 5,000 sq ft and four bedrooms, is composed of an arrangement of straight and curved lines, and glass expanses that open up towards the verdant gardens and swimming pool outside.

The house featured a distinctive roof with steep pitches and a prominent street-facing, tapered chimney. Nwankpa Gillespie worked with the original structure’s main features – such as its defining roof outline – to enhance its architectural presence externally, but also its functionality and sense of space inside. Maintaining most of the roof, the architect pushed the walls out to add an extra 400 sq ft to the existing 1,000 sq ft home. Clever landscaping around the building will soon grow into a mature garden, adding a touch of nature to the urban site.
